The Barn Project - Page 11

June 2008 and the basic shell is up and now the work really happens inside.

The above picture now shows a completed shell. All roofing has been completed by Ian Young roofing on 07906 590626. The slate roof is the octagonal kitchen and note the hips are bonded . We thought is would look over powering with 4 hips and a ridge all in stone. Some features have been created including the arrow slits on the main barn and we have re-used the old ties from the old brickwork. A total of 480 tonnes of earth was removed to create two stepped level areas. The bottom for a driveway and the upper for a lawn. The smaller picture below shows, on the left hand side, the link building and office. Further pictures showing the internal arrangement will follow.

The inside of the kitchen now shows the large octagonal truss. Each leg that sits on the breeze blocks will have a decorative brick pillar supporting each one. The purlins create a teepee effect and when plastered, the entire ceiling will be lit with concealed lights creating a stunning room to entertain and relax.
